Brief of the case
Petitioner submitted a complaint to the Chief Information Commissioner on 17.5.07 that he did not receive information as sought for by him from the SPIO of DEEO, Darrang. He wanted the following information.
(1) When was Shri Satya Kumar Nath appointed by which Govt. Officer? A written admission of the said Government officer be furnished.
(2) Where did Shri Nath serve as teacher? A certificate of the school Headmaster be furnished for the period 1999 to November 2006.
(3) Certificates from the Managing Committee President and Gaon Panchayat be given to the above effect for the said period.
(4) A copy of attendance register of the school for the said period
(5) Which post was held by Shri Nath (a) Plan or (b) out side plan (c) Govt. allotted (d) Retirement vacancy
(6) A copy of the appointment letter of Shri Nath as a teacher.

Submission of the parties
The complainant stated that he had not received information. The D.I of Schools stated that he had already collected information from the field but it was to be photocopied. He stated that he would had over the information on 12.7.07. He however, submitted that he would not be able to furnish a statement of the officer who appointed Shri Nath as a teacher nor could he furnish certificate from the Village Education Committee.

Observation by the Commission
The Commission observed that the D.I. of Schools had collected the required information which required to be photocopied.

Decision of the Commission
The Commission on careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case decided to direct the D.I. of Schools, Darrang to furnish information on 12.7.07 positively after realizing the cost of photocopies. In case the complainant may not satisfied with the reply he might feel free to approach the Commission.
