Brief of the Case

Shri Mrinal Kanti Chakraborty submitted a petition before the State Chief Information Commissioner stating that he applied for some information about Golakganj Development Block from the Additional Deputy Commissioner and the PIO, Dhubri which was forwarded by the PIO, Dhubri to the PD, DRDA, Dhubri for furnishing the information within 30 days.

The information as sought for by the complainant were as follows:

The sanctioned schemes of Golokganj Development Block with Anchallik Panchayat share, Zila Parishad share and Gaon Panchayat share in the year 2002-03, 2003-04, 2004-05, 2005-06 and 2006-07. He wanted information relating to all Gaon Panchayats, all Anchallik Panchayats and the Zilla Parishad as well as MLA fund and Border Development fund.

But the P.D. DRDA, Dhubri did not furnish the information to the complainant and hence this case.

Submission made by the SPIO

The SPIO submitted that the complainant came to the office of the SPIO on 15.12.06 and he was informed by the SPIO that he (SPIO) would be able to furnish the information within a few days as he had not received information from some Gaon Panchayats. The complainant did not again come to collect the information. The PIO further submitted that the address given by the complainant was not sufficient and as such he could not contact the complainant.

Decision of the Commission

The Commission directed the SPIO to inform the petitioner that the information sought for by him was ready and can be collected by the complainant on payment of the requisite fees. The SPIO should send a letter within 3 days of this order.
