Brief of the case

On 30.3.2007 a complaint was received by the Commission from Salim Ahmed of Bawluri, Dhubri district stating that he wanted copies of plan and estimates for setting up of Jaleswar Lift Irrigation Scheme in Jaleswar area under DDP for 2006-2007 under the RTI Act, 2005 from State Public Information Officer of DC's office, Dhubri who sent his petition to the concerned PIO of the office of the Executive Engineer, Mankachar Irrigation Division vide letter dtd. 17.1.2007. He alleged that incomplete information with lack of detailed plan and estimates, proper implementation procedure was furnished to him from the office of the Executive Engineer, Mankachar Irrigation Division.

Hence this complaint case.

Submission of the parties

The Executive Engineer, Mankachar Irrigation Division submitted before the Commission that the matter regarding the Jaleswar Lift Irrigation Scheme in Jaleswar area was disposed by the Commission vide orders dtd.26.4.2007 and the PIO of his office had already sent the necessary information to the complainant on 12.3.2007. As the information was furnished by the PIO of the office of the Executive Engineer, Mankachar Irrigation Division, the Commission may be pleased to close the case.

Decision of the Commission

The Commission perused the records in the case No. 6612007 and found that the subject matter of the case was same as in the present case. The Commissiqn after hearing the Executive Engineer, Mankachar Irrigation Division decided to close the case as the matter was already disposed of in case No 66/2007. The Commission directed the Secretary of the Commission to ensure that such duplications of cases do not take place in future.
